Today our Year 6 pupils proudly took the lead in organising and running a special Sports Morning for their Reception buddies. Under the warm spring sunshine, the field came alive with excitement, energy and teamwork as the older children guided their younger friends through a fun-filled morning of cricket, relay races and football.
The Year 6 buddies took on the role of coaches, cheerleaders and teammates, helping the Reception children learn new skills, build confidence and – most importantly – have fun. The morning began with a mini cricket session, where Reception pupils practised batting and catching under the careful guidance of their Year 6 leaders.
Next up were the relay races, with lots of cheering and encouragement as teams dashed back and forth, passing batons and celebrating every effort and finish. The event finished with a lively football session, where teams of mixed ages enjoyed scoring goals, making saves and playing together in the spirit of friendly competition.
Teachers and staff were impressed by the leadership, kindness and responsibility shown by the Year 6 pupils. Their enthusiasm and support created a wonderful atmosphere, and it was heartwarming to see the strong bonds that have formed between the buddies over the year.
Well done to all the Year 6 and Reception children for making the morning such a success – a brilliant example of our school values in action!
